The Trade and Cooperation Agreement is unique amongst trade agreements in that it includes a section devoted to law enforcement and judicial cooperation in criminal matters (Part Three of the TCA).

The UK leaving the EU had a potentially catastrophic impact for shared security as authorities heavily relied on available EU tools and databases to investigate and prosecute serious crime.

Whilst the agreement ensured that important aspects of cooperation continued there are significant changes to the relationship which have had a negative impact on the security of citizens in the UK and EU. These should be addressed in any reset of the relationship.
